A Russian jack-up rig with 67 crew onboard capsized and quickly sank near the island of Sakhalin last Sunday while being towed through a heavy winter storm on the Sea of Okhotsk. More than 50 people remain unaccounted for after this tragic maritime accident. The rig, named the “Kolskaya”, was owned and operated by Arktikmorneftegazrazvedka (AMNGR), a unit of Russian state-owned Zarubezhneft, at the time it sank.
